-North of 96th Street is a documentary-style film showcasing the life and work of legendary NYPD homicide detective and film producer, Randy Jurgensen.
From Harlem a half a century ago to the present day, the film weaves together a litany of landmark police cases with some of the most iconic Hollywood crime films of all time, using Jurgensen’s detective and silver screen work as the common thread.
The story is told against the backdrop of a tumultuous time in American history which sees the assassinations of John F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King, the war in Vietnam, and the city of New York buckling under the explosive mix of militant movements, the Mob, drug-fueled crime, and an out-manned & out-gunned police department.
